Good grief!
I didn't think anyone would actually visit this page! I'd better give you some details, then- but I warn you, if you've clicked this thinking you'll find a dynamic and dramatic conversion story that will have you on the edge of your seat and move to tears, you're going to be VERY disappointed!
Truth is, I believed in God from the time I was old enough to have any sort of belief in anything. I was raised by my grandparents and my Nanna had a very simple and very strong faith. I loved hearing about Jesus and the Bible from her. By the time I started school, I probably knew more Bible stories than many adults do! I may not have understood them all - but I knew them!
I was in my first year of A Level studies (Lower Sixth to you old timers, Year 12 to the younger ones) and had already chosen Religious Studies as one of my subjects. It was all based on Old and New Testament studies then so I was in my element. I was merrily getting to grips with John's Prologue in Greek and having a field day with the political background of the time of Amos, and all that jazz- when our RS teacher announced that we were going to be performing a sketch for a Christian Drama group who were doing the rounds in local schools the following week, so our lessons were going to be given over to rehearsing that week.
Drama? Acting? Bible stuff, you say? Heck yeah!!!!
(I'd like to point out that I got a special mention from our visitors as being a very convincing Beggar when we performed our sketch- but I'm very modest, so I won't.)
Anyhow, the drama group- Back To Back- gave a concert at a local church hall at the end of the week, along with a singer called Paul Rush. My nan took me along and on that Saturday night in November 1983, I had an LBM (light bulb moment!!!) Listening to Back to Back and to Paul sharing his testimony and lead a prayer- I grasped the difference between knowing about Jesus and knowing Jesus. I became a Christian that night. No fuss, no Heavenly Host. You'd think God would have at least have spared an angel to blow a kazoo or something- but no. All very quiet, really. I did get a cup of tea afterwards. Maybe they thought I was in shock.
Soooo- that's the exciting tale of how I ended up in this whole Christian lark! It may seem dull to those who did get the dazzling lights and full- show- including- interval conversion; but it means everything to me.
As for the rest of it all.....
I work as Teaching Assistant in a Primary school and, as if being with children/ young people for a living wasn't enough- I'm also a Girls' Brigade Leader and am Captain of our Boys' Brigade Company. If you've never checked out the Girls' Brigade or Boys' Brigade- please do- we're awesome! (Have a look: Girls' Brigade UK Girls' Brigade Worldwide and Boys' Brigade UK ....Google Boys' Brigade and country of choice for worldwide details)
In my murky, distant past, I've also worked as a waitress (not in a cocktail bar- before you go all Human League on me!), a librarian (where I met hubby), a Nanny and a Missioners' Assistant for the Royal Sailors' Rest in Portsmouth (nicknamed Aggie Weston's).
I was a student in Devon, studying for a degree in Integrated Studies ( English, Theatre Arts, Film Studies and, oddly, Propositional Logic. You don't wanna know about that last one. Don't try in at home, folks!). I was Publicity Secretary for the Christian Union there- and probably ate my way through as many Devon Cream Teas as I wrote essays. (I'm lying... I ate WAAAAY more cream teas than I did essays!)
Oh yeah- I did a stint on Word on the Web and wrote a series of daily bible studies before its demise. There is no connection between me writing for the site and it ceasing to be. Just want to put that out there, so ya know!
Like everyone else, I need a little downtime- and love writing (fiction/ non-fiction, poetry, scripts..I'm not faithful to just one type of writing- bit of a literary trollop, I'm afraid!), reading (I devour books. Nom nom nom!), the Theatre daaaahlings, art and crafts, and also am very in touch with my not-so-inner geek. I'll pounce at a bit of fantasy or sci-fi before you can say "Off you go into the Tardis, Frodo and may the Force be with you!"

Love it! Love it! Love it!!! LBM, book?!
